GreenCrew vs Pingdom

Pingdom is the tool a lot of “page load time vs response time” essays are still written about. SolarWinds owns it. You buy probes, you buy speed, and you can script a path through checkout. GreenCrew does not script a browser. We fetch a URL and we publish what happened.

What Pingdom actually sells

Pingdom’s useful split is the one in their own blog: response time is the server handshake, page load is what a person felt. Transaction checks exist because a 200 on / is not a working cart. If you run a sale and you can pay for that, it is the right class of product.

Where they overlap

Both of us will page you when the homepage stops answering. Both of us will store a history of those failures.

Where they part

Pingdom will not hang a founder-shaped status page on greencrew.space/yourhost, and it will not let you overwrite a green check when the payment provider is on fire. We will not give you waterfall charts or a recorded checkout. If the question is “did the document load in Düsseldorf?”, Pingdom. If the question is “can I show customers a truthful page in the next ten minutes?”, GreenCrew.

Who should pick which

  • GreenCrew: You want a public status page and a check you can contradict, without a SolarWinds quote.
  • Pingdom: You need page-speed history and scripted journeys through login or pay.
