GreenCrew vs UptimeRobot

UptimeRobot is what most founders mean when they say they “set up monitoring.” You paste URLs, you get a dashboard of greens and reds, and you can publish a status page. GreenCrew is in that same aisle — scheduled HTTP checks, a public page — but it is built around one product URL and the moment the check is wrong.

What UptimeRobot actually sells

UptimeRobot sells coverage. Fifty monitors on the free plan, one-minute checks once you pay, keyword matching so a parked domain cannot fake a 200, heartbeats for cron, and a status page the internet already knows how to find. That is a real product. A lot of teams should start there.

Where they overlap

Both of us ping a URL on a schedule and show customers a public page. Neither of us is Datadog. If your question is “is this host answering HTTP?”, both tools can say yes or no.

Where they part

UptimeRobot believes the check. If the homepage returns 200 while payments are dead, the public page stays green until you hide a monitor or write a maintenance window. GreenCrew lets you report that failure yourself. We also put the page at greencrew.space/yourhost instead of a separate status subdomain you have to explain. UptimeRobot wins on monitor count, interval options, and integrations that already exist. We win if you have one product, not fifty URLs, and you need the status page to tell the truth when HTTP cannot.

Who should pick which

  • GreenCrew: You have a single site or API, you want a page at a memorable host path, and you expect to post incidents the checker will miss.
  • UptimeRobot: You are watching many URLs, you need keyword and heartbeat checks today, or your team already lives in UptimeRobot’s alert list.
